refina square

Focused on residential and smaller jobs.

As a sole trader working alone, I focus on general residential work, but I will also consider any smaller commercial projects.

I can assist with covering or removing textured ceilings.

Furthermore, I’m always happy to help with repairs, such as holes in walls, and water damaged ceilings.

Please note that I do not offer  textured ceiling finishes, or repairs to textured ceilings where a perfect match is desired.

Pricing

My pricing is for completion of the works in full, as opposed to a day rate basis. If the work takes longer than planned, the labour cost will not increase. This means you always know what you’re paying.

The only exception to the above is when problems are uncovered and the scope of the work increases. In this instance you will be notified and advised of the additional costs.

Preparation

The amount of preparation work required can vary dramatically depending upon the starting point. Fresh plasterboard, assuming it has been fitted correctly, requires little to no preparation work and two coats of finishing plaster can be applied immediately.

Skimming over old walls can require a significant amount of work before plaster can be applied. Wallpaper must be entirely removed, and any blown plaster knocked off the wall. It will then require sealing. Walls in particularly bad condition, or that are not already reasonably flat, usually require an undercoat before the finishing plaster can be applied.

Preparation works are chargeable or alternatively, your are welcome to undertake this work yourself. I am happy to provide guidance where needed.

Power Socks

To achieve the smoothest finish, best practice is to have an electrician remove power sockets, make safe the wires and tuck them inside the back box. However, it is possible to plaster with them in position. For safety, power must be off.

Radiators

Radiators should be removed in advance by your heating engineer. Pipework can generally be left in position, however if it needs to be removed I will advise you in advance.

Skirting Boards

It is possible to plaster with skirting boards in position. However, if you intend to replace your skirting boards, these should be removed, and your replacements fitted once the plaster is fully dry. I can remove old skirting boards and install new ones.

Finishing and Decoration

If you would like me to finish your room, I would be delighted to do so. I can fit skirting boards, coving, and then decorate, leaving the room ready to go. Once this is done, you may need to arrange for your plumber and electrician to refit your sockets and radiators.
